Alec Issigonis, creator of the British Motor Corporation 'Mini' car range, drives the 1,000,000th Mini off the production line at the Austin Plant at Longbridge, Birmingham. *27/02/01 The new Mini which will go on sale in the UK summer 2001, was , being unveiled for the first time. The 1.6 litre engined Oxford-built car was enjoying its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. With central locking, anti-lock brakes, a six-speaker sound system and electric windows, the new Mini is a far cry from the first of its kind made in 1959.
