The pub is not in fact in Ilfracombe but in Combe Martin(which claims to have the longest high street in Britain)
Been there a number of times.
Good selection of real ales and reasonably priced food.
An area for children in the garden and a museum which shows some history about the [lace including many famous people that have stayed there, some as part of their marriage ceremony and first night.
Well work a visit.

I visited here with my family back in the mid 90's. In the back garden there was a stream running through, and the owners kept a massive, but very docile, pig in the garden!

I was there as a kid in 1957. I remember the glass bottomed ale mugs so you could see if the press gang were coming. Also the secret trap door to hide from the press gang. Definitely at Combe Martin.

the glass bottom was so you could see if "the kings shilling "was in your pint!Seen it but not been in it.

Agree with others that this pub is in Combe Martin. I have not been in it but went passed it on a coaching holiday in 1964.
