Roger Tyas Returning from a wedding shoot this evening, I passed by the replica Titanic anchor displayed in Netherton, Dudley where the original was made over a century ago and was compelled to stop to catch some pictures on this memorable day. As I took a few pictures, two little girls with their grandfather came to place a bouquet at the tribute with a wonderful message of sympathy to those who lost their lives in the disaster. I'd just listened to Jeremy Vine on the car radio relating to stories passed down about the events, then a Titanic portrayal on tv made the day so much more poignant for the fate of people wanting to start a new life.
Cant quite think when The Titanic tragedy first came into my conciousness. But The James Cameron Movie certainly re awakened it, isnt it strange the things you know but dont know that you know? The majority of photos taken on Titanic that are around nowaday were taken by a guy who used it for the short hop to Cork (queenstown as it was then) he later became a priest.
Also a member of the crew his himseldf away on the lighter that took passengers into cor

and now an austrailian billionaire whats to rebuild titanic as was her original design....so wait and see

Some years back another replica of the Titanic was planned with the keel to be laid in South Africa.A little longer than the original and with air conditioning etc.It did not work out and was aborted.It was also frowned on by one of the last Titanic survivors.
