Transport - Queen Mary Liner - Southampton 1946

The Cunard White Star 'Queen Mary' eighteen hours late out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, arrived at Southampton on time to set a new record of 3 days, 15 hours, 48 minutes for the crossing. It was the ship's last trip as a war transport, and she will now undergo reconversion to a luxury passenger liner. In the background is her new sister ship, the 'Queen Elizabeth', waiting to make her maiden voyage.
