Opened in 19th century and closed post 1966. Junior section closed, however the Infant department is still on the old site. Their is a nursery class and this is in part of the original school building. This year Upper Cwmbran school is 150 years old and are hoping to have a celebration. One hundred and fifty years ago the original school was openen in 'The Square' and the classroom was a large room above the Squirrel in.
