Washington Basalt Gorge 2008

High Dynamic Range composite tripod picture from Washington State at the Columbia River junction. Basalt and Silica as far as the eye can see. Enormous shifts of ice and earth carved this coulee (and all of the columbia river gorges) at the end of the last ice age. It's hard to show scale, but there was a car at the bottom, which looks like a little dot, the cliffs are a few hundred feet tall.
