then the merger which had more pupils to accomodate for into the smaller building which then became Wellington Academy. The council at the time although a bis fuss was made over the merger ignored the public and proceeded to do what they pleased and turned a long standing non-denominational school into Notre Dame, which was completely re-furbished with nice plush carpets and everything in the school halls, and a nice new image. In the mean time the Welly got a lick of paint and some hand me downs, thanks!! A one way system had to be initiated in the school to cope with the amount of pupils trying to get to classes. There was one saving grace for the council though - Notre Dame never got their swimming pool which the were allowed to have because they refused to share it with the Welly.
