Nose up against the glass at Wally Kilmisters on the way home from school (St Joseph's) wishing I could have some iceskates and learn to skate. Rum babas and rock cakes from Aldridges. my mum buying her cigarette lighter from the tobacconist next door and that vaguely mysterious office beside that. Going into the underground loos on the triangle with the fabulous mahogany doors and having to put a penny in the slot and then 'shoot the bolt'. Buying Jamboree bags from the sweetshop. Jagshowrm

Got my tubes there, and played in juniors at the Pool. Also got all my aircraft modelling bits and pieces there - control line at the rec was great. ISTR that WK was a former Wembley Lions speedway rider? Climbed up on the ironwork at the toilets on the triangle to watch the royal cars go by at the 1948 olympics.

Yes, folks. Wally Kilminster always was synonymous with "The Triangle" He also rode for the Lions. My mates dad was a mechanic for Wembley Lions Speedway. I once had a ride with Split Waterman from West Ham back to Wembley. As for the '48 Olympics, I saw the Royals from outside "The Pleasure Boat" at Alperton.
