The part of the Tech College I attended was known as The City of York School of Commerce. It was a building at the back of the Regal (ABC) Cinema in Piccadilly, where the Viking Centre now is. The Engineering side was at Ashfield and in Clifford Street opposite The Friend's Meeting House, it is now known as The York Dungeon I think. After I left it was all eventually transferred to the York Technical College which is on Tadcaster Road. By that time though, I had left and moved on to pastures new. At the time of my attending the York School of Commerce we had to wear a uniform, it was bottle green, and we were not allowed to wear make-up! I was sent to the toilets many a time to 'wash my face.'
